LPG

Breakaway couplings for LPG (Propane/Butane) hose systems

Break-away couplings are indispensable safety devices in the gas and oil industry as they prevent pull-away accidents and eliminate unwanted emissions and spillage. They are used in industrial and marine applications, the likes of plant engineering and construction, tank cleaning, filling systems, and interconnected ship-to-ship and ship-to-offshore platforms amongst many others.

Product description

The primary purpose of a break-away coupling is to detect ruptured hoses or obstructions of connectivity and instantly shut off the flow to prevent accidents, damaged equipment and environmental contamination. In the industrial applications the break-away coupling will be placed at one end of the hose assembly and is usually attached to a fixed point like a rig. In marine applications, the hoses span over longer distances and the break-away coupling will therefore be placed between 2 hoses and release at inline pull.

When experiencing excessive tension pull of the hose, pull away couplings instantly separate, and two internal spring-loaded back-pressure checks close off the ends.
